Accelerating Decarceration in Maryland

In partnership with a national campaign supported by Open Society-U.S., OSI-Baltimore invested in efforts to reduce the number of people who are currently incarcerated for extremely long and punitive sentences in Maryland prisons.

American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Maryland, Inc.+

$150,000 over two years to engage in education and organizing to reduce the number of people serving long sentences in

Maryland prisons. American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland*+

$100,000 over two years to support policy advocacy to reduce incarceration in Maryland.

Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth+

$175,000 over two years to help achieve the safe and restorative decarceration of individuals serving long prison sentences in Maryland, with a focus on those who were incarcerated as youth.

Family Support Network+

$250,000 over two years to provide support to the Family Support Network to bring home people serving long sentences, particularly people serving life sentences, through education and service.

Forward Justice Maryland+

$92,000 over two years to engage in education and organizing to reduce the number of people serving long sentences in Maryland prisons.

Forward Justice Maryland+*

$58,000 over two years to support policy advocacy to reduce incarceration in Maryland by Forward Justice Maryland.

Justice Policy Institute+

$200,000 over 16 months to help achieve the safe and restorative decarceration of individuals serving long prison sentences in Maryland.

Mandala Enterprise Corporation+

$250,000 over two years to engage in education and organizing to reduce the number of people serving long sentences in Maryland prisons.

Maryland Justice Project+

$150,000 to provide support to engage in education and organizing to reduce the number of people serving long sentences in Maryland prisons.

Maryland Office of the Public Defender+

$125,000 over two years to help achieve the safe and restorative decarceration of individuals serving long prison sentences in Maryland.

Maryland Prisoners’ Rights Coalition+

$250,000 over two years to bring home people serving long sentences, particularly people serving life sentences, through education and service.

Out for Justice+

$200,000 to engage in education and organizing to reduce the number of people serving long sentences in Maryland prisons.
