As part of programming for Tuesday’s National Day of Action on Addiction, the Parkway Theatre held a special screening of the movie “Beautiful Boy,” which chronicles a young man’s struggle with substance use and how it affected those in his life.
“It’s really important for treatment to be really accessible and for there not to be a lot of barriers to it,” said OSI-Baltimore director, Diana Morris after the screening. Morris part of a select group of attendees who are working to decrease the impact of substance use in Baltimore City. OSI’s Addiction and Health Equity program, led by Scott Nolen, works to promote innovative ideas that improve health equity and lower the threshold to high-quality behavioral health services, reduce stigma, and support community engagement to improve public health in Baltimore.
Amazon Studios partnered up with the addiction help organizations all over the country like the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of Maryland to show the movie for free all over the country.
