Tomorrow, October 18th, Ali Smith, Atman Smith, and Andres Gonzalez, the founders of longtime OSI partners and grantees Holistic Life Foundation (HLF), will release their debut book Let Your Light Shine. OSI has been a longtime supporter of HLF’s work to bring yoga and mindfulness to Baltimore City Schools, including the introduction of a new curriculum.

The HLF founders say the new book is “part memoir, with the three authors sharing stories of their upbringing, their unforgettable role models (Ali and Atman’s father, mother, and godfather – who was a Black Panther as well as a yogi), and the early days of the program, and part practical guide with hands-on mindfulness and meditation tools readers can teach kids that will allow them to do this same work in their own communities” in which they “share the impact of yoga and meditation on their lives as children living in one of Baltimore’s most underserved neighborhoods, and the program they established as adults to help at-risk children, and particularly children of color, heal from trauma, step into their power, and rebuild their communities.”
