Today, Mayor Brandon Scott, Housing Commissioner Alice Kennedy and La Cité Development President Daniel Bythewood Jr. will announce that 11 homes slated for potential demolition in the Poppleton neighborhood – a Black community that dates back to the Civil War – will instead be rehabbed by Black Women Build-Baltimore, founded by 2018 OSI Community Fellow Shelley Halstead, and sold at an affordable price, with former tenants offered right of first refusal.
