OSI Fellow Atiya Wells, BLISS Meadows, profiled on Kelly Clarkson Show

Last week, 2020 OSI Community Fellow Atiya Wells appeared on the Kelly Clarkson Show to talk about the organization she founded, BLISS Meadows, which has reclaimed 10 acres in Northeast Baltimore as a public park and farm space with chickens, goats, and rabbits, that has produced 22,000 pounds of food for community members, and provided positive experiences in nature to neighborhood children. 

“We want to be a community resource and engage Black and Brown people in the environment, despite their fears and the narrative that Black people don’t camp, that we don’t like to hike,” she said during the appearance. “We want to push back and reframe that narrative.”

At the conclusion of the segment, Clarkson announced that one of the show’s sponsors, Sprouts Farmer’s Market, was donating $25,000 to the organization. Watch the full segment below.
