On Tuesday, November 28th, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will hold a rare field hearing at Johns Hopkins University to discuss the opioid epidemic.

Maryland Representative Elijah Cummings, the committee’s ranking member, requested the meeting to examine the epidemic’s impact in Baltimore and the recommendations of President Trump’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis. Among the witnesses:

  • Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Chairman of President Trump’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis
  • Richard Baum, Acting Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy
  • Dr. Leana Wen, Baltimore City Health Commissioner
  • Dr. Caleb Alexander, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

The hearing will be in the Chevy Chase Auditorium at Johns Hopkins Hospital, 1800 Orleans Street, at 12:30 pm.
