On Thursday night, OSI-Baltimore, Good News Baltimore, and the Walters Art Museum co-sponsored an event at the Walters to mark the one-year anniversary of the uprising and to talk about how we define progress going forward. The event, part of OSI’s Talking About Race series, featured a great panel including Joseph Jones, director of the Center for Urban Families and a member of OSI-Baltimore’s advisory board, Devin Allen, the photographer and activist who shot the iconic Time magazine cover during the uprising, Sharayna Christmas of Muse 360 Arts, Kathleen Sherrill, principal of SP Arch Inc. and president of American Institute of Architects, Maryland, and Aaron Bryant, the Mellon Curator of Photography at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History, opening in September, and chair of the Special Commission to Review Baltimore’s Confederate Monuments. Good News Baltimore hosts Ashley Deadwyler Jones and Linda Evans moderated the conversation.
